RICKIE & HENRI

Rickie is a baby chimpanzee. Born in the rain forest of Central Africa, she lives with her mother, happy and safe . . . until the day the hunters come.
The hunters take Rickie away from her mother and put her up for sale at a Congolese market. Luckily, she is rescued by a kind man who knows that selling wild animals is against the law. He adopts Rickie and takes good care of her, but while he is away at work she is often lonely.
Until she makes an unexpected friend . . .
This beautiful true story about an unusual bond between two special animals includes an afterword by the author, Dr. Jane Goodall, who has met many orphaned chimpanzees in her work. She hopes that Rickie’s story will inspire those who read it to find new ways to help and protect our animal friends.
